This agreement marks a turning point in the institutional relationship, seeking to respond to the significant demographic growth of Colmenar Viejo, which has evolved from a traditional core to a dynamic and expanding city. Current management focuses on laying the groundwork for the coming decades, providing the municipality with modern infrastructure and public services that meet the needs of its residents.
One of the protocol's pillars is access to housing. The Community of Madrid will allocate 100 million euros to the Plan VIVE, enabling the construction of over 900 affordable rental homes. This initiative aims to make it easier for young people and families to settle in the municipality without housing costs being an insurmountable barrier, thus encouraging the arrival of new families and revitalizing the social and commercial fabric.
In the educational and health sectors, over 25 million euros will be mobilized for new educational centers, including a public school in the Adelfillas sector with over 800 places and a new secondary education institute. Additionally, a new health center will be built to improve primary care, complementing planned improvements to existing health centers.
Citizen security is another priority, with financial support of over 850,000 euros for the Colmenar Viejo Local Police until 2026. A commitment has also been made to locate a new fire station in the municipality, strengthening the regional emergency network and protecting both urban areas and the surrounding natural heritage.
To boost the local economy, a new municipal slaughterhouse will be built with an investment close to 12 million euros, supporting the livestock sector. Furthermore, 3.5 million euros will be allocated to optimize and digitize water and sanitation networks, coinciding with the 175th anniversary of Canal de Isabel II.
Social commitment includes a new senior citizens' residence with capacity for 150 people and a day center, focused on personal autonomy. Animal welfare and environmental protection are also strengthened with a new Regional Office of Forest Agents and an investment of 1.3 million euros in the Comprehensive Animal Shelter Center. This protocol adds to the over 336 million euros already invested by the Community of Madrid in the municipality, seeking balanced growth and prosperity for all citizens.
