The parliamentary group of Vox in the Assembly of Madrid, led by Isabel Pérez Moñino, has submitted a Non-Legislative Proposal (PNL) to modify the criteria for accessing direct maternity aid in the region, seeking to eliminate the age cap and establish priority for applicants with Spanish nationality.

Vox's initiative urges the Governing Council to remove the current age limit, allowing all pregnant women who meet the general requirements to apply for the benefit, regardless of their age. In addition to this age expansion, the proposal includes the creation of a “national priority” scale for granting these subsidies, aiming for Spanish national applicants to receive preferential access to public funds allocated for this purpose.
Since January 2022, the Community of Madrid has maintained an economic support program consisting of 500 euros per month per baby. Currently, this benefit is exclusively reserved for mothers under 30 years old, who receive the aid from the 21st week of gestation until the child turns two years old, totaling 14,500 euros per child.
According to official figures, the regional Executive has granted nearly 28,000 aids under this program, representing an investment exceeding 324 million euros. These policies are part of the region's birth rate promotion strategy, which in 2025 led the growth in births in Spain with an increase of 3.3% and a total of 52,450 births, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The PNL presented by Vox aims to transform this aid into a universal age-based benefit for pregnant women, while also introducing nationality as a determining factor in the order of aid concession.
