The Community of Madrid has launched the inaugural BTT Route Canal de Isabel II, a mountain biking event that will explore the region's water supply history.

Registration for this BTT Route Canal de Isabel II is now open until September 21, or until the 400 available bibs are sold out, via the event's official website. The competition will take place on September 27 in Torrelaguna, as part of the commemorations for the public company's 175th anniversary. The first 200 registered participants will receive a commemorative jersey.
The route offers two modalities adapted to different skill levels. The long version covers 45 kilometers with an accumulated positive elevation gain of 1,147 meters, while the short version features 35 kilometers and 858 meters of elevation gain, respectively. The latter modality will also be open to gravel and electric bikes (e-bikes).
The course will wind through tracks, paths, and trails in the municipalities of Torrelaguna, which will serve as the start and finish point, Torremocha de Jarama, and Patones. Participants will have the opportunity to discover historical water-related infrastructure and enjoy landscapes of significant environmental value in the Sierra Norte.
The BTT Route Canal de Isabel II aims to establish itself as a benchmark event in the mountain biking calendar of the Community of Madrid, offering a proposal that blends sporting appeal with the promotion of the region's hydraulic and natural heritage.
