The Faculty of Psychology of the Complutense University of Madrid hosted the III Conference on Mental Health in Educational Contexts, where the Secretary of State for Education, Abelardo de la Rosa, stressed the need to strengthen psychological support in schools.

Under the theme “Contribution of Psychology to Psychological Well-being and Academic Performance,” the conference held in the José Germain auditorium on the Somosaguas campus analyzed the mental health needs of students, teachers, and families. Abelardo de la Rosa emphasized the growing integration of psychology in education and the importance of continuing to promote its presence to ensure the overall well-being of the educational community.
The event, organized by entities that signed the Manifesto for the Well-being of the Educational Community, highlighted the work of educational psychologists in the psychological development, academic performance, and emotional management of students, as well as in addressing specific learning difficulties.

In this regard, De la Rosa detailed initiatives from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, such as a bill in progress to reduce the maximum number of students per classroom and establish a legal limit for the teaching hours of faculty in publicly funded centers. Furthermore, the Emotional Well-being program is being enhanced, with funding increased from 5 to 10 million euros to strengthen the role of well-being and protection coordinators in educational institutions.
