The Community of Madrid has begun erecting the buildings of the future City of Justice of Madrid, after completing the excavation, emptying, and foundation work. The first phase is thus concluded, during which an average of 80 trucks and 15 machines worked daily, moving over 1.5 million tons of earth. In this process, 1,087 piles, 28 micropiles, and 1,070 footings were placed to distribute the structure's weight uniformly, and the installation of reinforcement in the parking area has also been completed.
For this second phase, 19 cranes have been installed on the site located in the Valdebebas neighborhood, and more than 2,000 construction professionals will work on the project during peak production times. The structures of the main buildings, corresponding to the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) and the Provincial Court, will be finished in the first quarter of 2027. Subsequently, interior work, facade cladding, and system installations will begin, among other tasks, lasting approximately one year. The buildings will be fully operational by the last quarter of 2028.
The rest of the jurisdictional bodies, such as the Prosecutor's Office or the courts of instance, and services like the Dean's Office or Victim Assistance Offices (OAVD), belonging to lot 2, will have their structures completed in the second half of 2027.
The facades of the buildings for the TSJM and the Provincial Court will combine materials to maximize energy efficiency. The cladding will be large-format porcelain stoneware with aluminum elements and joinery, an External Thermal Insulation Composite System (ETICS), and extensive glazed surfaces, along with mineral wool insulation and aluminum and galvanized steel substructures.
