Five of the arrestees have been remanded in provisional custody by judicial order. The well-structured and specialized organizations traveled through different autonomous communities to select targets and steal mainly jewelry, cash, and other valuables, using various methods to access properties and hinder police action.
The first investigation, initiated in April 2025, focused on a four-person organization. They used two safe houses, one in Arganda del Rey and another in the city of Madrid, to plan their movements. The women in the group handled logistics, managing rented vehicles and straw purchasers to avoid links to the robberies.
The two men carried out the burglaries using the 'impressioning' technique, which allows doors to be opened without visible damage to the lock. They are linked to 18 burglaries. They were arrested in A Coruña after committing a robbery, carrying jewelry, cash, and tools. Subsequent searches recovered jewelry and a high-end vehicle. The two men were imprisoned.
The second investigation dismantled a group specializing in using nitric acid on locks, detected in Valencia and Zaragoza. They marked homes with a thin thread of glue to check for occupants, then injected nitric acid into the locks with syringes to corrode internal mechanisms. They primarily operated on weekends and during holidays.
The three members of this second group were arrested as they were about to commit new burglaries, carrying nitric acid, syringes, and tools. They are charged with 9 burglaries, belonging to a criminal group, and assaulting an authority agent. All three were remanded in provisional custody.
The National Police advises using interior CCTV, simulating presence with light timers, and not lowering blinds completely to prevent break-ins. They recommend not touching suspicious marks on doors and calling 091.
