The march, called by various organizations including the Network Against Occupation and Colonization of Palestine, started from Atocha and concluded in Callao under slogans such as ‘No Nakba, No genocides, No war, No gag orders’.
Attendees carried kufiyas and Palestinian flags, as well as banners supporting the Palestinian people. Chants against Israel and calls for the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to close the Israeli embassy in Spain were heard.
“"How is it possible that Russia is out of Eurovision but Israel is allowed to continue there washing its image of a genocide?"
The political secretary of Podemos and MEP, Irene Montero, denounced the situation of the Palestinian people, recalled the displacement of the population during the Nakba, and criticized Israel's participation in Eurovision, calling for a boycott as an urgent measure to end European complicity.
Various organizations called for an arms embargo against Israel and an end to commercial, military, diplomatic, cultural, and academic relations. The spokesperson for the campaign to end arms trade with Israel, Laura Ferre, argued that Spain must comply with the law and impose an embargo.
Representatives from BDS Madrid, Global Sumud Flotilla, and Marea Palestina also denounced the bombings, the blockade of humanitarian aid entry, the increase in settlements, and the violence against the Palestinian population.
In their manifesto, the signatory entities demanded coherence from the Government and asked for the rejection of war to translate into concrete measures, such as an arms embargo, breaking relations with Israel, and closing US military bases.
