Three years ago, at the Magariños stadium, the Government's Second Vice President was perceived by many as the potential successor to the president. At that time, she proclaimed herself as such before thousands of enthusiastic supporters. However, within three years, the political movement she brought together has almost completely dissolved.
Currently, the Second Vice President barely maintains her position as the theoretical 'number three' in the Government, supporting four ministers also linked to her former movement. This situation has led her to seek a new direction for her political future.
“"The Second Vice President, like other members of the Executive, has become an anomaly in the coalition Government, which the president dares not thoroughly reshuffle."
The provisional nature of her situation is known by all who were part of her movement. The Second Vice President herself, after publicly renouncing her candidacy in future elections, seems to have opted for a period of relative silence and opacity, awaiting new opportunities. This has been reflected in her limited participation in the Andalusian elections campaign and the cancellation of her presence at previously announced events, such as one organized at the Ateneo de Madrid.
While her evident political faculties are acknowledged, such as her ability to unite a large part of the left-wing spectrum at some point, her flaws are also highlighted, including her desire for prominence, lack of credibility, and shortcomings as an orator. Speculations about her future are varied, ranging from a possible position in public bodies to a return to private life as a labor lawyer.
In Madrid circles, it is rumored that, after the Andalusian elections, where an unfavorable outcome for socialism is anticipated, the president might be forced to make significant decisions to strengthen his position ahead of the upcoming municipal and regional elections. The Second Vice President is aware of this situation and, therefore, maintains a low profile, avoiding attention while she decides her next steps.
