This program, now in its twenty-ninth edition, allows travelers to discover Alcalá de Henares, a World Heritage Site, through a non-stop train journey from Atocha and a guided tour led by actors portraying characters from Cervantes' works.
The performers accompany participants through the city's cultural heritage, offering an entertaining and fun perspective on its history. The itinerary includes iconic locations such as the church where Cervantes was baptized, the medieval city with its ancient Jewish, Christian, and Muslim quarters, and the Renaissance University City, a pioneer in its planning and also a World Heritage Site.
Among the points of interest visited are the Colegio Mayor de San Ildefonso, with its courtyards and the Paraninfo where the Cervantes Prize is awarded annually, as well as the Church of Santa María, San Diego Square, Cervantes Square, Santos Niños Square with the Magistral Cathedral, Calle Mayor, the Archbishop's Palace, the Regional Archaeological Museum, and the Casa de la Entrevista.
The season will feature 12 Saturdays of service. The ticket price is 22 euros, with reduced fares of 16 euros for children aged 7 to 11, and free travel for children under 6. Since its creation in 1997, the Cervantes Train has transported nearly 35,000 people, exceeding 1,800 travelers in the last edition.
