The delegate for Social Policies, Families and Equality of the Madrid City Council has called for the resignation of a councilor from the Más Madrid group. The accusation stems from an incident in the Plaza de la Villa, where the delegate claims the councilor encouraged protesters to heckle him upon his arrival at Casa Cisneros.
The authorized protest gathered nursery school workers who are on an indefinite strike. The delegate strongly criticized the events, stating that such behavior does not align with the "ways of doing politics" that should govern public representatives of the Council.
“"He maintains all disagreements with the councilor, but they must always be expressed with respect, as they are representatives elected by the people of Madrid."
This confrontation occurs in a context of growing tension between the municipal government and the opposition, coinciding with the third week of the strike by workers in the municipal nursery school network. The delegate insisted that, despite the political confrontation, the Madrid City Council remains willing to meet with the striking employees, possibly this week.
However, he clarified that any proposed solution must strictly adhere to current regulations, municipal ordinances, tender specifications, and the collective agreement. The Council, he argued, is obliged to operate within these legal limits, without exceeding the established margins for remuneration or working conditions.
