The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has approved the contracting of works necessary to restore the functionality of the San Martín de Valdeiglesias Fire Station. This infrastructure suffered significant damage during the major Sierra Oeste fire that occurred this summer. The regional investment for this recovery exceeds 200,000 euros, with a maximum estimated execution period of three months.
The repair work is progressing rapidly, balancing the necessary interventions with the continuity of service and the daily activities of the station's professionals. The goal is to rectify the damage caused by the fire to essential elements for the infrastructure's operation. Areas to be repaired include the electrical and water supply connections, the main electrical panel, the perimeter fencing, streetlights, exterior traffic lights, and the front parking area.
The Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Interior has processed this intervention through an emergency procedure. This measure was taken due to the urgent need to rapidly re-establish the full operational capacity of a vital resource for emergency response in the area.
The planned tasks include demolition and earthmoving, masonry, locksmithing, and the repair of water and electricity supply systems, along with other necessary labor to ensure the park's optimal activity and functionality.
