Social Security Affiliation in Madrid Grows 0.56% in March

The Community of Madrid added over 21,700 contributors in March, reaching a total of 3.87 million affiliates, driven by the services sector.

The Community of Madrid recorded a 0.56% increase in Social Security affiliation during March, adding 21,719 new contributors and raising the total figure to 3,879,420 people, according to data from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.

This monthly increase translates into a year-on-year rise of 2.99%, representing 112,598 more affiliates compared to the previous year. The majority of contributors in the region, 3,434,177, belong to the General Regime, while 441,542 are self-employed. Additionally, 3,700 are registered in the Sea Regime, 1,796 in the agricultural sector, and 94,759 in household services.
Nationally, Social Security experienced a 1% growth in March, adding 211,510 contributors and reaching a record 21,882,147 affiliates. This boost is mainly attributed to the hospitality sector, which added almost 80,000 new employees in anticipation of Easter Week. Daily affiliation surpassed 21.9 million people from March 16 to March 30.

In seasonally adjusted terms, the number of contributors exceeded 22 million for the first time, with a total of 22,010,532 affiliates, which is 523,579 more than in March 2025. The General Regime, the most numerous, grew by 1.07% with 194,217 new affiliates, while the Self-Employed Regime (RETA) added 14,920 contributors, reaching a new maximum of 3,429,534 people.
Within the General Regime, hospitality led the rebound with 79,701 new employees, followed by construction with 17,478 affiliates. In contrast, wholesale trade and health activities recorded monthly declines in employment, with almost 13,500 and 9,500 fewer affiliates, respectively.
