The iconic Madrid Jarama-RACE Circuit, situated in San Sebastián de los Reyes, will become the global hub for discussions on the connection between motorsport and tourism. From June 15 to 16, it will host the World Motorsport Tourism Congress (WMTC), the first congress of its kind worldwide. This event aims to enhance the link between motorsport and tourism development, positioning the region as an international benchmark.
The initiative is driven by the RACE Foundation, in collaboration with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and UN Tourism. The Government of the Community of Madrid supports the congress, which is part of the Motor Year program, underscoring the strategic importance of these events for the region.
Councillor Mariano de Paco Serrano highlighted the enthusiasm for hosting this event, noting that 2026 is a key year for motorsport in Madrid, which has already hosted Formula E and anticipates the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1. The WMTC joins this agenda as a forum to reflect on the impact of motorsport and motorcycle racing on tourism.
Over the two days, experts will analyze how motorsport can contribute to sustainable tourism growth, how it helps position destinations, and what legacy these events leave behind. The program will include presentations, debates, and practical experiences to outline concrete lines of work.
The choice of Jarama, with its rich history and infrastructure, is no coincidence. The circuit offers the ideal conditions to host a meeting of this magnitude, consolidating the strategy of the Community of Madrid and the RACE Foundation to position the region as a leading destination for motorsport tourism.
