The National Police has successfully dismantled 22 drug selling points and arrested half a hundred individuals during April and May as part of a comprehensive operation against drug-trafficking apartments throughout the Community of Madrid, including several interventions in the capital. The properties in question were located in Madrid districts such as Tetuán, Moratalaz, Villaverde, Centro, Arganzuela, Latina, Carabanchel, and Fuencarral, as well as in La Cañada Real and the cities of Alcalá de Henares and Fuenlabrada.
This operation is part of the police strategy against these types of drug selling points and has led to the closure of several properties used for drug trafficking, some of which were illegally occupied. With these actions, the Police have now dismantled over 90 drug dens in the region during the current year.
Among the notable interventions is one in Tetuán, where three crack and heroin selling points were dismantled in occupied buildings. Officers arrested five individuals and seized drugs, prohibited weapons, and nearly 9,000 euros. Furthermore, a commercial space and a residence were returned to their owners.
In Moratalaz, investigators located three marijuana plantations hidden in the foundations of a building, accessible through a trapdoor connected to a ground-floor apartment. The operation resulted in the seizure of 1,627 plants and the arrest of one woman for crimes against public health and electricity fraud.
Additionally, in Villaverde, actions were taken against several selling points distributing cocaine and heroin. In the Centro district, a clandestine synthetic drug laboratory installed in a storage room was dismantled, where over 1.4 kilograms of ecstasy, ketamine, LSD, and tusi were confiscated, leading to two arrests.
The Police also conducted operations in Arganzuela, Latina, Fuencarral, Alcalá de Henares, Fuenlabrada, and La Cañada Real. Collectively, the searches allowed for the seizure of significant quantities of cocaine, hashish, marijuana, and other drugs, as well as weapons, cash, and materials used for distributing narcotic substances.
The Superior Headquarters of the Madrid Police has emphasized its ongoing commitment to residents and citizen associations to provide an 'effective and forceful' response against these criminal activities.
