The Mercamadrid logistics hub has launched a relief operation to provide 400 daily meals to residents evacuated from the Sierra Oeste region following recent forest fires.

The initiative, coordinated with the Madrid Association of Cooks and Confectioners (ACYRE), uses the El Hervidero facilities to prepare nutritionally balanced rations. The meals, featuring fresh fruits and vegetables, are transported daily to the judo pavilion in Villaviciosa de Odón for distribution to residents from Chapinería, Navas del Rey, and Pelayos de la Presa.
Over 1,300 meals have been distributed since the start of the operation. The project is supported by several companies in the food and logistics sector, including DAPSA, Packea, Frutas E. Sánchez, Frutas Julián, Eurobanan, and Alcampo, which provide the necessary supplies and materials.
Should the emergency situation persist, the hub has confirmed it will issue a call for further support to companies operating within the facility to meet potential new needs. This effort follows the organization's history of providing aid during previous regional crises.
