Doctors and healthcare professionals in the Community of Madrid begin their fourth week of indefinite strike this Monday, called to reject the Framework Statute agreement and demand a specific text recognizing their unique roles.

The strike, which will last until Friday, May 22, once again tests the effectiveness of the regional healthcare system, with estimated costs exceeding 12.8 million euros and thousands of procedures and consultations suspended since December.
The mobilizations, driven by the majority union Amyts, include daily gatherings at key locations such as the Hospital Clínico San Carlos, Hospital de Móstoles, Hospital de La Princesa, and in front of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health.
The professionals' main demand is the creation of a specific Framework Statute for doctors and healthcare professionals, reflecting their training and responsibilities, along with a dedicated negotiation scope and legal guarantees.
The Spanish Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM) and other organizations have called on over 175,000 doctors across Spain to join these walkouts, seeking a new professional career model, improved remuneration, and the possibility of early retirement.
Amyts has requested the direct intervention of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in the negotiations, considering that the Minister of Health, Mónica García, is no longer a valid interlocutor.
