A 51-year-old man is in very serious condition after being rescued from a fire in his home in Madrid's Carabanchel district on Saturday.

The victim suffered cardiac arrest due to smoke inhalation, requiring intervention from emergency services. He was transported to the 12 de Octubre Hospital.
The incident occurred around 3:00 PM in a property on Salvador Alonso street. Two units from the Madrid City Council Fire Department extinguished the flames and found the man unconscious in one of the rooms.
SAMUR paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, successfully reversing the cardiac arrest. Once stabilized, he was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to Emergencias Madrid.
The fire primarily affected the kitchen, but smoke spread throughout the dwelling, complicating firefighting efforts. Fortunately, no other apartments in the building were impacted.
A SAMUR psychologist provided support to the victim's family. The Municipal Police cordoned off the street to facilitate emergency access and escorted the medical convoy to expedite the transfer.
