Interurban buses in the Community of Madrid have integrated their real-time location into Google Maps, enabling travelers to know waiting times and plan their journeys more effectively.
The Community of Madrid has taken a significant step in improving public transport by incorporating, for the first time, real-time location data of its interurban buses into the Google Maps application. This initiative aims to offer users a more precise tool to know bus arrival intervals and organize their trips optimally.
“
"This integration provides users with all updated information on vehicle positions and real-time waiting times, beyond scheduled timetables."
This technological advancement is the result of the connection between the transport operators' systems and Google Maps' route planner. Thanks to this, users can verify the exact arrival time of the bus at their stop, identify possible incidents or delays, and thus manage their journeys with greater efficiency. The functionality is already operational on all urban and interurban buses serving the Community of Madrid.
To use this new feature, travelers only need to open Google Maps, select the public transport option, and choose a stop on the map. The application will then display the available lines and the real-time waiting time for each, facilitating a more informed and comfortable travel experience.

"With this action, the Regional Transport Consortium reinforces its commitment to continuously improving traveler information and advances in the development of a more efficient, accessible, and user-oriented system, supported by the use of digital technologies."
