Madrid City Council is launching its annual asphalt resurfacing campaign tonight, which will renew 247,000 square meters of pavement on the M-30 and the main access roads to the capital, with an investment of 6.2 million euros.

The initiative, managed by Madrid Calle 30, represents one of the most significant road renewal campaigns in recent years. The work will cover 9% of the 2.7 million square meters of roadways under the entity's maintenance. The network includes, in addition to the M-30 itself, access roads to the capital such as the A-1, A-2, A-3, A-4, A-5, A-6, A-42, M-11, M-23, M-500, and M-607.
This campaign is part of the Operation Asphalt 2026, organized by the Area of Works and Equipment, and will extend across the city's 21 districts. The tasks will involve milling the deteriorated pavement, applying a new asphalt layer, and subsequent road marking. Approximately 19,000 tons of asphalt mixtures will be used.
All work will be carried out during nighttime hours to minimize traffic disruptions. Alternative routes will be established, and informative signage will be reinforced to guide drivers. The first intervention will commence tonight on the A-6 and the BUS-VAO lane, between Calle de la Princesa and the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela, covering an area of 160,000 square meters, making it the most extensive operation of the campaign.
On the BUS-VAO lane, milling will take place on July 19th and 20th, and asphalt paving on July 26th and 27th, always during nighttime hours. The A-6 will serve as an alternative route. On the A-6 inbound, work will occur from July 15th to 28th over 18 nights, Sunday through Thursday, with the M-500 as a diversion. In the outbound direction, work will extend from July 26th to August 17th over 16 nights, with diversions via Calle Isaac Peral, the service road of Plaza del Cardenal Cisneros, Avenida de la Complutense, and the Dehesa de la Villa lane.
The campaign will include three additional interventions throughout the summer. The second will focus on the interior of the M-30 tunnel, between the southern junction-Plaza de Legazpi and the Marqués de Vadillo-Pirámides roundabout, covering approximately 50,000 square meters in both directions.
The third intervention will take place on the Puente de Vallecas, as part of the 'Vallecas Abierto' initiative, where 12,500 square meters will be asphalted after the waterproofing work included in the comprehensive rehabilitation project of the infrastructure and its surroundings is completed. Lastly, the deck of O'Donnell with the M-23 outbound will also have its pavement renewed, covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters.
