The Madrid Arena is set to host the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) from May 8th to 10th, an event that strengthens the capital's position as a strategic center for the eSports industry.

The LEC, the most significant European competition for Riot Games' popular video game, returns to Madrid for the second consecutive year. This event will bring together the continent's top teams, drawing thousands of in-person attendees and millions of viewers via streaming platforms.
Among the participants are Spanish teams such as Movistar KOI, based in Madrid, and GiantX, from Málaga. The teams that achieve the best rankings in the LEC will secure a direct pass to the World Championship, where they will compete against clubs from other regions.

"The event provides a new boost to the video game ecosystem in Madrid."

The Madrid City Council has identified this competition as a strategic opportunity to bolster the city's role as a nerve center for the eSports and video game industry, framed within the Madrid in Game initiative. The capital previously hosted major sector events in 2025, including the Call of Duty League at the Caja Mágica, the LEC Roadtrip, and the national League of Legends final of the Professional Video Game League.
Throughout the event week, the Esports Center at the Casa de Campo Video Game Campus will offer the Riot Unlocked experience, allowing attendees to play with all unlocked characters. Additionally, on Saturday, May 9th, the Experience Center will host a new edition of the Madrid in LEC Show, a live program analyzing the competition. On Sunday, an open 1-on-1 League of Legends tournament will be held at the Esports Center.
Inside the Madrid Arena, the Madrid in Game initiative will feature its own stand with various gaming zones. Outside the venue, a mobile unit will showcase projects from Madrid-based studios such as Red Mountain Games, Kraken's Den Studios, Artax Games, Nakama Game Studio, Tiamat Studio, and Ilogik Games.
