The Community of Madrid has officially released the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 school year, marking the return to classrooms for various educational levels. Students in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Special Education will be the first to resume their studies on September 7th. On the same day, classes will also commence in centers offering Artistic Education in Music and Primary Education.
One day later, on September 8th, students in Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, Professional Programs, as well as students of artistic education linked to Music and Dance and those in Official Language Schools will begin the academic year.
Higher Artistic Education will start its activities on September 9th. Subsequently, September 21st will be the start date for Adult Education Centers and first-year students of Plastic Arts and Design in Art Schools.
The calendar includes the traditional Christmas holidays, which will run from December 23rd to January 10th. The Easter holidays will be extended from March 19th to March 29th.
In addition to national and regional holidays, several non-teaching days have been established. These include October 12th, November 2nd, and December 7th and 8th. These will be joined by February 12th and 15th as days without academic activity.
The end of classes for most educational programs, including Early Childhood, Primary, Special Education, ESO, Vocational Training, artistic education, Official Language Schools, Art Schools, and Adult Education Centers, is scheduled for June 18th. First-year Baccalaureate students will finish on the same day, while second-year students will have a calendar adapted to the University Entrance Exam (PAU) dates.
Early Childhood Schools and Children's Centers will maintain their activities until July 31st, being the last to conclude the academic period. The publication of this calendar provides families and teachers with a clear roadmap for organizing the upcoming academic year in the region.
