The city of Madrid is getting ready to welcome the Pontiff from June 6 to 9 with a comprehensive municipal plan featuring floral displays, special lighting, and extended cultural hours.

The welcome plan, unveiled by the Madrid City Council, includes the installation of 100,000 plants in the Vatican colors of yellow and white, alongside institutional signage and banners to be distributed to residents. The initiative aims to provide a unified look for the capital during the visit.
Cultural offerings will be boosted with several museums remaining open until 2:00 AM on the night of June 6, coinciding with the vigil. Additionally, screens will be set up at key locations such as the Palacio de la Prensa and the Callao cinemas, while a photography exhibition on Paseo de Recoletos will be open to the public starting the Monday before.
The visual display will extend to the fifteen bridges of the Calle 30, which will feature welcome banners, including the main access point from the A-2. Meanwhile, the EMT Madrid bus fleet will be wrapped with commemorative images, and Plaza de Cibeles will be illuminated in Vatican colors throughout the Pontiff's stay.

"The goal is for the Pontiff to feel at home while in the city of Madrid."
