The Madrid City Council has installed 15 information tents across the city to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and vaping, coinciding with World No Tobacco Day.

The Deputy Mayor of Madrid, Inma Sanz, accompanied by the Councilor for Salamanca, Cayetana Hernández de la Riva, visited one of the tents this morning. These tents aim to raise public awareness about the risks of tobacco and electronic cigarettes, as part of the commemoration of World No Tobacco Day on May 31st.
At the tent located in Manuel Becerra square, health professionals are providing information on the benefits of quitting smoking and explaining the risks associated with tobacco and vaping products. The tents will be available in public spaces for the next week, also offering support to smokers who wish to overcome their addiction.
The Deputy Mayor recalled that the Madrid Salud centers spread throughout the city offer assistance to those who want to quit smoking. These centers have multidisciplinary teams that conduct structured programs of eight sessions over two months, with a year-long follow-up and flexible hours.
Sanz emphasized that one of the current priorities is to prevent the initiation of tobacco consumption among adolescents and to warn about the risks of vaping, particularly in this population group.
