According to data released by the National Statistics Institute, tourism activity in the region showed a positive trend, with a 5.54% increase in the number of travelers compared to the same period last year. In total, 1,082,623 tourists were recorded, a significant portion of whom were international visitors.
Specifically in the capital, the volume of overnight stays reached 1.71 million, placing Madrid as the second most visited destination in Spain, behind only Barcelona. The average length of stay in city establishments remained close to two nights.
The regional hotel sector also saw growth in its operational capacity. By the end of August, the available supply rose to 1,129 open hotels, representing a 4.15% year-on-year increase, with a total of 123,438 beds. Additionally, employment in the Madrid hotel sector grew by 5.42%, reaching 17,546 employees.
Despite the increase in visitor numbers, the average daily rate in the region recorded a 4.62% decrease compared to August 2025, standing at 116.89 euros. This trend contrasts with the general rise in hotel prices observed nationwide.
