The Community of Madrid has opened the application period for early childhood education grants, providing up to €283 per month to nearly 34,000 families for the 2026/27 academic year.

The Community of Madrid launched this Tuesday, May 19th, the application period for grants for the first cycle of Early Childhood Education for the 2026/27 academic year. This initiative aims to support approximately 34,000 families and involves a public investment of 67.3 million euros.
Following the official publication in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM), applications can be submitted until June 8th. Interested parties can process their requests through the Community of Madrid's institutional portal and the Digital Account.
These grants are intended for children born or expected to be born before January 1st, 2027, who are enrolled or have a reserved place in an authorized private center that does not use publicly funded places.
Grant amounts will range from €177 to €283 per month, depending on family income. The regional government has detailed that 7 points will be awarded in the assessment to families where both parents work full-time, or to single-parent families in the same situation, or when one parent has a permanent disability preventing them from caring for the child. 5 points will be applied if the work activity is part-time.
Furthermore, circumstances such as large families, parents or children with disabilities, victims of violence against women, and exceptionally, children over 3 years old with special educational needs certified by Early Intervention requiring an additional year in the first cycle of Early Childhood Education will be considered.
Grants awarded in the 2025/26 academic year may be extended if families reapply and continue to meet the requirements. The Community of Madrid has implemented improvements in the application process through the Digital Account, allowing all family members to be included in a single application and offering pre-filled forms for extensions, contextual guidance, and auto-save functionality.
According to the regional Executive, this call for applications seeks to enhance family choice, facilitate work-life balance, and promote equal opportunities in this non-compulsory educational stage, where schooling has been free in the Madrid public network since 2019.
