The Madrid City Council, through the General Secretariat of the Plenary, has requested documentation from the political party to justify the expulsion of three councilors, aiming to guarantee the rights of all parties involved in this political and institutional conflict.

The information request, issued last Friday, grants a five-day period to provide all documentation that substantiates the councilors' expulsion and allows for the determination of their status in the Madrid City Council. This measure responds to the need to ensure the rights of everyone involved in the dispute.
Municipal sources have explained that this is not a political decision or a discretionary intervention by the municipal government, but rather the fulfillment of a legal procedure that must run its course with all guarantees. The action by the General Secretariat of the Plenary seeks to resolve the case "as soon as possible" and in accordance with the applicable regulations within the City Council and the statute of councilors.
The request for documentation is specifically addressed to the political party's general secretary, asking them to submit to the Consistory all information held by the party that can prove or support the expulsion of the representatives. This material will be crucial for the legal analysis that must clarify the status of the three municipal representatives within Cibeles and the institutional effects their break with the party, under whose banner they ran in the elections, may have.

"The General Secretariat of the Plenary merely applies the law and organizes the file to clear up existing doubts. The processing must precisely serve to protect the rights of all affected parties: both the expelled councilors and the party itself, and the regular functioning of the institution."

Furthermore, it has been clarified that the final decision on the situation of the three councilors does not rest with the municipal government. It will be the president of the Plenary who will resolve based on the legal report prepared by the General Secretariat, thus transferring responsibility for the decision to the parliamentary institution and to the technical-legal analysis that must precede any resolution on the councilors' status in the City Council.
