In an unprecedented police operation, the National Police have successfully dismantled two complex criminal networks dedicated to human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of women in situations of economic vulnerability. The actions have resulted in the arrest of eleven individuals and the liberation of several victims, including a 15-year-old minor.
Victims were recruited in their home countries under false promises of employment, subsequently incurring debts of up to 10,000 euros, which they had to repay by engaging in prostitution under degrading conditions. The investigation, initiated after a complaint from one of the affected individuals, revealed a modus operandi based on deception, coercion, and absolute control over the women.
The organizations employed constant surveillance methods, including cameras and threats, even coercing victims through Santeria practices and forcing them to consume narcotic substances. The lack of protection during sexual activity led to some women contracting sexually transmitted diseases requiring lifelong medical treatment.
One of the most shocking rescues was that of a 15-year-old minor, who was forced to manage calls from up to 100 clients daily via four mobile phones, providing information on prices and sexual services. The minor was also subjected to a fine system for any non-compliance.
Two criminal organizations and two brothels were dismantled in Madrid, with eleven individuals arrested as alleged perpetrators of crimes of human trafficking, money laundering, and criminal organization related to prostitution.
The raids and searches were carried out in several residences in the city of Madrid and in Alicante, culminating in the arrest of those involved. Two of the detainees have already been remanded in custody, while the liberated victims have received assistance and protection.
The rings imposed a strict fine system on the victims, penalizing them with 100 euros if they failed to show up for work, even when ill, or if they were late. The pressure was so intense that they were forced to perform sexual services without protection, leading to pregnancies and the forced use of abortifacient pills.
The investigation also highlighted the use of erotic websites for recruitment and instant messaging applications to manage client schedules. The brothels operated in three residences for 12 hours a day, and victims were threatened with the exposure of their identities if they attempted to leave the business.
