Starting in September, the Hortaleza district will enrich its cultural offerings with a catalog of 206 courses and workshops distributed across its various centers. Registrations will open online next Monday and will be available until June 12.
The program will take place at the Hortaleza, Carril del Conde, Federico Chueca, Huerta de la Salud, Sanchinarro-Hispanidad, and the brand-new Alfonso Ussía cultural centers, located in Valdebebas. For those requiring in-person assistance, the Hortaleza, Carril del Conde, and Federico Chueca centers will provide help with completing applications.
The inauguration of the Alfonso Ussía Cultural Center in Valdebebas represents a significant advancement for the district, expanding the capacity to serve residents of all ages and reinforcing the presence of cultural activities in the northern area of Madrid.
The new center's educational offerings will include programs in humanities such as courses on Madrid for families, literary creation, art history, the history of Spain, and film history, as well as reading and creative writing. In dance and movement, ballet, oriental dance, ballroom dancing, flamenco, and sevillanas will be offered for both children and adults.
In the languages and computer skills section, interested individuals can access courses in English, smartphone application usage, office software, and new technologies. The visual arts will be represented through workshops in painting, drawing, ceramics, modeling, carving, and furniture restoration.
Performing arts and music will have a prominent space with theater for adults and artistic expression activities. Regarding physical maintenance and well-being, Hortaleza offers a wide range of disciplines including maintenance gymnastics, Zumba, Latin dances, Pilates, body combat, body balance, GAP, fusion dance, aerobics, tai chi, yoga, and yogilates.
For children, a specific program has been designed covering reading clubs, mathematics, chess, theater, judo, dance, body expression, ballet, modern dance, music and movement, sevillanas, ceramics, painting, creative painting, robotics, guitar, and electric guitar, adapted to different ages and interests.
