Technicians from the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Interior have started mapping the areas affected by graffiti in this natural space. The Asociación Deportiva Cultural Rock and Rocks Pedriza is collaborating in this initiative, with its climbers voluntarily joining the cleaning efforts.
The regional government has also implemented a citizen collaboration system. Through posters with a QR code, anyone who spots this type of damage can easily report it. They are asked to take a photograph of the graffiti, indicate the exact location and the surface affected, and send the information via a link for the graffiti inventory.
The cleaning work, which will use a biodegradable product, will commence next autumn. The paint will be applied using brushes and manual sprayers, and volunteers will be responsible for collecting any generated waste to ensure the environment is left completely clean.
After evaluating the results of this initial phase, periodic maintenance actions will be planned. The feasibility of managing the information provided by citizens and the execution of the work will be studied, with the aim of potentially extending the project to other areas of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park suffering similar damage.
