The Ramón y Cajal University Hospital is celebrating its 29th blood donation marathon on May 20th and 21st, an initiative aimed at thanking donors for their generosity and promoting this vital act.

The hospital, in collaboration with the Transfusion Center of the Community of Madrid, has organized this event under the slogan «¡Gracias Donantes!» (Thank You Donors!). The marathon will benefit from the selfless participation of various companies, public and private entities, and volunteers.
Among the scheduled activities, the visit of the 501st Legion Spanish Garrison from Star Wars stands out, present on Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Additionally, the Madrid Firefighters, along with the Municipal Police and SAMUR-Civil Protection, will set up a tent at the main entrance to encourage donations and offer brief prevention talks.
Attendees can enjoy a photocall in the lobby and taste gazpacho after their donation, courtesy of the hospital's Hospitality Service. Special gifts and exclusive raffles will be offered as a token of appreciation.
A promotional video produced by Madrid Emergency Services will be shared on social media. This security force will also be present on Wednesday, May 20th, with demonstrations by their canine unit. The Sonrisas Solidarias Association and various State Security Forces will provide information about their solidarity activities in the main hall.
The initiative seeks to honor the altruism and solidarity of donors, highlighting their fundamental role in society. Citizens are encouraged to participate in this life-saving network through a simple and quick gesture that takes only about 20 minutes.
Healthy individuals between 18 and 65 years old, weighing over 50 kilograms, who are not fasting and do not suffer from blood-transmissible diseases, are eligible to donate.
