After a period of ambiguity, the Community of Madrid has decided to participate in the State Housing Plan designed by the central government. The stance, previously anticipated with strong criticism as inadequate, now materializes into a conditional adherence.

Regional Executive spokesperson, Miguel Ángel García Martín, cleared up doubts following the Governing Council meeting, confirming that they "will participate" in the plan. However, he specified that this would be from a "critical" perspective, stating that "it is not the path we would prefer" and that the Ministry of Housing's policy "is leading to nothing but less supply and rising prices."

Previously, the Minister of Housing, Transport, and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, had made the plan's acceptance conditional on a debate within the Sectoral Conference. Rodrigo argued for the need to analyze "how the funds will be distributed," "how this plan will work," and "how it will affect us Madrileños," reminding that autonomous communities contribute 40% and "will have something to say about it."

Despite a summit scheduled between the central and regional governments, the Community of Madrid's decision has been announced in advance, ensuring the reception of funds to alleviate the housing access crisis.
