The Community of Madrid has announced a significant expansion of its Volunteer Camps program for young people, increasing the offer by 164% this summer, with 660 places available in 31 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

This initiative, aimed at young people between 18 and 30 years old, will take place from July to September. The volunteer camps cover various areas, including the preservation of historical, artistic, and cultural heritage, environmental protection, reconstruction, and social intervention.
The project is coordinated by the Ministry of Family, Youth and Social Affairs, through the General Directorate of Youth. Its main objective is to foster values such as coexistence and solidarity, by carrying out work that directly benefits local communities.
European destinations include Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, and Sweden. In Asia, options include Turkey, India, Armenia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Thailand. For Latin America, the available countries are Colombia and Mexico.
The program covers accommodation, meals, and leisure activities, with a cost for participants ranging from 110 to 121 euros, depending on age. Transportation to the volunteer camp is the responsibility of each young person.
In addition to the international offerings, the Community of Madrid organizes 12 national volunteer camps. Four of these are self-managed, with two dedicated to archaeology in Rascafría and two focused on environmental issues in Cercedilla. The remaining eight are managed through grants from the General Directorate of Youth to municipalities and non-profit organizations, highlighting projects such as 'Cinema between Generations' in San Lorenzo de El Escorial and 'Community Art against Unwanted Loneliness' in Torrelaguna.
