This agreement, reached after months of negotiation, represents a significant step forward for the sector. However, ECM has highlighted a key difference from other autonomous communities: the Madrid Ministry of Education will finance 75% of the full working day of the relief teacher, leaving the remaining 25% to be covered by the schools themselves.
Schools are committed to their teachers and assume that 25 percent in solidarity, organizing available personnel resources to make partial retirement viable.
Despite this particularity, ECM managed to get the Administration to authorize, in specific cases and at the request of the school owners, a necessary increase in the teaching hours ratio for relief staff until the effective retirement date of the relieved teacher. This implies that the Ministry commits to covering the entire working day of the relief teacher if the school does not have sufficient resources for the remaining 25%, a crucial measure to protect the teachers and schools involved.
“"This agreement favors the renewal of educational staff and significantly improves the working conditions of our teachers."
The ECM Governing Board has decided that schools will facilitate these partial retirements, with the expectation that the Ministry will adapt the measure to the particular circumstances of each center, thus ensuring educational quality and the well-being of the teaching staff.
