Starting this Saturday, and for four weekends, C-5 trains will only run as far as Atocha from the start of service until 10:00 AM. This measure will affect the remaining three weekends of April and the second weekend of May, excluding May 2nd and 3rd due to the Community of Madrid Day holiday.
According to Renfe, this alteration is a consequence of a new phase of works being carried out by Adif on the infrastructure of Atocha Cercanías station. Passengers needing to continue their journey beyond Atocha on the C-5 line will need to transfer at this station. For the rest of the day, the line's service will operate as usual, with termini at Móstoles-El Soto and Humanes/Fuenlabrada.
These works primarily aim to expand the capacity of Atocha station, also benefiting the C-3 and C-4 lines, which currently also face circulation restrictions. For instance, the C-3 has nightly limitations until May 7th, running only to Villaverde Bajo from 9:30 PM onwards.
The C-4 line, meanwhile, is restricted to Villaverde Alto until April 19th, from 9:40 PM. Trains originating from Parla will terminate at Villaverde Alto, requiring passengers to transfer to the C-5 line to continue to Atocha, and vice versa, due to single-track operation between Villaverde Bajo and Atocha during those hours.
