The Community of Madrid has opened the application period for school lunch grants for the 2026/27 academic year, allocating 75.4 million euros to support thousands of families in the region.

Starting Wednesday, April 29, families in the Community of Madrid can submit their applications for school lunch grants for the upcoming 2026/27 academic year. The regional government has earmarked a budget of 75.4 million euros for these grants, with the application deadline set for May 28.
The call for applications, published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM), allows interested parties to process documentation through the institutional portal comunidad.madrid, the Digital Account, official registries, and publicly funded schools. To streamline the process, explicit permission is required for the regional administration to verify necessary information. All adults included in the application must sign it.
Current beneficiaries of these grants can request an extension for the next academic year, provided they continue to meet the initial requirements. They must submit a sworn statement certifying compliance with these conditions. In the current academic year, these grants have benefited 146,000 students, an increase of nearly 20,000 compared to the previous year.
The Digital Account has been enhanced to facilitate processing, offering a smart form that adapts to each case and requests only the relevant documentation. It also incorporates automatic controls to prevent errors and allows for electronic signatures, including those from third parties via SMS, eliminating the need for in-person visits.
The grants are intended for students in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Compulsory Secondary Education enrolled in publicly funded centers, whose families have an annual per capita income not exceeding 8,400 euros. Also included are recipients of the Minimum Insertion Income (RMI) or the Minimum Vital Income (IMV), victims of gender violence or terrorism, students in foster care or residential care, beneficiaries of international protection, those affected by the war in Ukraine, or those officially enrolled in publicly funded centers using school transport.
Furthermore, members of the Armed Forces and agents of the State Security Forces and Corps stationed in the Community of Madrid with children in publicly funded educational centers are eligible for these grants. Large families with a per capita income between 8,400 and 10,000 euros will receive aid equivalent to 30% of the cost of the dining service.
