A 92-year-old woman was seriously injured this Wednesday after being hit by a truck on Atocha Street, in Madrid's Centro district, while crossing the road at a point without traffic lights or a pedestrian crossing.

The incident occurred around 12:30 PM, near number 63 of the aforementioned street. Emergency services from Samur-Civil Protection, Madrid City Council Firefighters, and Municipal Police were dispatched to the scene after receiving the alert.
Upon arrival, paramedics found the victim conscious but with extremely serious injuries, particularly to one leg, as well as severe trauma to the abdomen and pelvis. She was stabilized, intubated, and transported in a very critical condition to the San Carlos Clinical Hospital.

Municipal Police have opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

The driver of the truck, a heavy vehicle, received psychological assistance from the emergency teams due to a severe anxiety attack following the accident.
