22 Drug Dens Dismantled and 50 Arrested in Madrid Over Two Months

The National Police have closed drug sales points and dismantled marijuana cultivation sites in an operation against retail drug trafficking.

The National Police have dismantled 22 drug dens and arrested 50 individuals in the Community of Madrid during April and May as part of an offensive against retail drug trafficking.

The National Police have intensified their fight against drug trafficking in the Community of Madrid, concluding an operation that resulted in the closure of 22 drug sales points and the arrest of 50 people. These actions, carried out during April and May, are part of an ongoing plan to eradicate known drug houses and other infrastructures dedicated to the distribution of illegal substances.
Interventions were distributed across various locations in the region, including Madrid districts such as Tetuán, Moratalaz, Villaverde, Centro, Arganzuela, Latina, Carabanchel, and Fuencarral. Operations also took place in Cañada Real and the municipalities of Alcalá de Henares and Fuenlabrada. According to police sources, some of the seized properties were illegally occupied. With this latest phase, the total number of drug dens closed in the Community of Madrid during 2026 reaches 90.
In the Moratalaz district, investigations led to the discovery of three marijuana cultivation sites hidden beneath a building's foundations, accessible via a trapdoor. Officers seized 1,627 plants and arrested a woman for offenses against public health and electrical fraud. In Tetuán, three crack and heroin sales points were located, resulting in five arrests, the seizure of narcotics, prohibited weapons, and nearly 9,000 euros in cash. A commercial premises and a dwelling were also recovered.
Other significant operations occurred in Villaverde, where cocaine and heroin distribution points were dismantled. In the Centro district, police uncovered a clandestine laboratory for synthetic drugs in a storage room, confiscating over 1.4 kilograms of substances like ecstasy, ketamine, LSD, and tusi, and arresting two individuals. Searches in other locations yielded significant quantities of various drugs, weapons, cash, and materials for drug preparation and sale.
