Students from IES León Felipe in Torrejón de Ardoz have launched two significant solidarity events: the third edition of their blood donation marathon and a charity race to support the Spanish Porphyria Association.
These initiatives, supported by the educational center and the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council, were presented by Mayor Alejandro Navarro Prieto and the Councilor for Welfare, Education, and Immigration, Rubén Martínez, alongside the students themselves.
For the third consecutive year, the high school will host blood donation days in collaboration with the Torrejón University Hospital. These will take place on April 23 and 24, from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM. During these days, both teachers and students will actively participate in raising awareness about the vital importance of blood donation, aiming to encourage participation from the entire community.
The campaign's main objective is to raise awareness among the educational community and residents of Torrejón de Ardoz about the significance of this act of solidarity, promoting greater civic involvement. Those interested can donate at the Torrejón University Hospital on the specified dates and times.
Additionally, on May 18, a charity race will be held to raise funds for the Spanish Porphyria Association. This organization is dedicated to supporting individuals affected by porphyria, a group of rare genetic disorders that impact the production of heme, a crucial component of hemoglobin for oxygen transport.
The race will take place within the Parque del Ocio, covering an approximate distance of two kilometers, and will run from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
