The Torrejón de Ardoz City Council has completed the renovation of the gym at the Javi Limones Pavilion, located in the Joaquín Blume Sports City, with the addition of twelve new cardio, strength, and free weight machines.

The intervention involved the complete replacement of equipment, including cycle bikes in the cardio area, guided motion machines for the lower body (horizontal press and multi-hip) and upper body (lat pulldown, shoulder press, assisted pull-up machines, triceps, and biceps), as well as specific abdominal equipment.
In the free weight area, the gym now features a flat chest press bench, a Scott bench, and two multi-position benches. Additionally, a dumbbell rack with sixteen sets of dumbbells ranging from 2.5 to 27.5 kilograms has been installed, along with supports for five barbells and plates weighing between 1.25 and 20 kilograms.

"This is a new investment we are making to improve the sports facilities in Torrejón de Ardoz, which in 2026 is the European City of Sport, a distinction granted by the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Association (ACES Europe), an organization recognized by the European Commission, because this year the city will host numerous top-level sporting events, but also a large investment is being made in the creation of new sports facilities and in the improvement of existing ones, as with this machinery renovation."

Currently, four local sports clubs—basketball, handball, athletics, and runners—regularly use these facilities, complemented by other local teams that make occasional use of the gym. This improvement is part of the city's commitment to sports, especially in 2026, when Torrejón de Ardoz holds the distinction of European City of Sport.

"With these significant investments in the improvement and expansion of sports infrastructure, we ensure that all citizens, from the youngest to our elders, have access to ideal spaces for practicing various disciplines. As a result of this commitment, we continue to bet on the future with four major projects that will strengthen our position as a sports benchmark and will involve an investment by the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council of 20 million euros in 2025 and 2026."

Future projects include the construction of the Grand Sports Pavilion in the second phase of the Torrejón Soto del Henares Sports City, the expansion of the Joaquín Blume Sports City with new facilities, the new Royal Madrid Football Federation Sports City, and the 2026 Infrastructure Maintenance Plan, which includes improvements to the athletics track.

"Torrejón de Ardoz has also developed innovative programs that promote inclusion and equality in sports, ensuring that all people, regardless of age, gender, or ability, can enjoy the benefits of an active and healthy life. Sport is a powerful tool for social cohesion and personal development, and we work tirelessly to consolidate an environment where everyone can thrive."
