Torrejón de Ardoz emerged as the national epicenter for fencing prodigies last weekend, hosting the U15 Spanish Regional Teams Championship at the Pabellón Jorge Garbajosa.

As a notable innovation, the competition extended into the corridors of the Parque Corredor Shopping Center, where several pistes were set up. The aim was to introduce the sport to visitors and raise its profile. The event brought together approximately 500 athletes, both male and female, competing in foil, saber, and épée disciplines.
Mayor Alejandro Navarro emphasized the significance of adding this competition to Torrejón de Ardoz's sports calendar, particularly in a year when the city celebrates its designation as European City of Sport 2026. He highlighted the investment in new and improved sports facilities.
For her part, the Councilor for Sports and Tourism, Miriam Gutiérrez, added that hosting such events reinforces the commitment to sports tourism. She noted that the participants, along with their families and technical staff, contribute to boosting the local economy.
