The Torrejón de Ardoz City Council is installing pictograms at pedestrian crossings near educational centers to enhance safety for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and promote road safety education for children.

This measure, previously implemented during the current legislature and now being expanded, aims to facilitate road crossing for children with ASD, as well as other individuals with diverse abilities. Additionally, it serves as an educational tool for young children to learn basic road safety rules.
The investment is being made in the access areas and surroundings of 41 educational centers in Torrejón de Ardoz, including nurseries, primary schools, and high schools. The pictograms illustrate a clear sequence recommended for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder: 'stop, look, car stopped, and cross'.

"We continue to work with the Federation of Associations of Mothers and Fathers of the city (FAMPA) within the Streets for Kids movement with the aim of creating more friendly environments for our schoolchildren and improving the safety and accessibility of schools and other educational centers, in this case, by implementing pictograms primarily aimed at people with Autism Spectrum Disorder."
