Torrejón de Ardoz's Senior Citizens' Week, taking place from May 11 to 17, will feature a wide array of free activities, including theatrical performances, music, dance, and a community paella.

The new edition of Senior Citizens' Week in Torrejón de Ardoz is set to begin on May 11. The program, presented by the mayor and the councilor for Senior Citizens and Volunteering, along with the Senior Citizens' Board of Directors, has unveiled a packed schedule of shows, outdoor initiatives, and free activities for attendees.
The inauguration will be held on May 11 at 8:00 PM at the José María Rodero Municipal Theater with the play Los tres de la Noche. The theatrical program continues on May 12 with Homenaje a nuestros mayores, performed by the Torrejón de Ardoz Municipal Music Band. On May 14, there will be a concert by José Mora, followed by La verbena de La Paloma on May 15 and Latido y tañido on May 16.
Tickets for these events are free, but it is essential to present a senior citizen card. They can be collected on May 7 and 8 at the Assembly Hall of the Casa de la Cultura, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with a maximum of two shows per person and one ticket per senior citizen card. If tickets remain, they can be obtained at the theater's regular box office hours.
One of the most anticipated moments will be the free performance by singer Francisco, scheduled for May 17, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at the Nuria Fernández Pavilion of the Joaquín Blume Sports City. Earlier, at 12:00 PM, Gema Castaño will perform, and at 1:00 PM, the traditional free paella distribution will take place, with music and dancing continuing until 5:00 PM.
Ticket distribution for this day will begin on May 11 at the Senior Citizens' Department and the Las Veredillas Senior Citizens' Center. Additionally, a shuttle bus service will be available from 11:00 AM, with departures every half hour, covering various stops such as the La Cañada Senior Citizens' Center, Avenida Madrid Senior Citizens' Center, Courthouses, Avenida de Las Fronteras, and the Joaquín Blume Sports City.
On Saturday, May 16, the Plaza Mayor will host 'Torrejón bien se merece un chotis', featuring the show Viva San Isidro, performed by the Torrejón de Ardoz Lyric Group. Attendees are encouraged to wear traditional 'castizo' costumes, and prizes will be awarded to the most authentically dressed couples.
The program is rounded out with activities such as 'Gymnastics for all and healthy breakfast' on May 12 at Veredillas Park and on May 13 at Rosario Park. There will also be award ceremonies for the second petanque championship and the third billiards championship, a paper carnation workshop, and a 10-kilometer walk to Fuentecilla and Paseo de Los Almendros.
Other highlights include an interview on the importance of sports for seniors, a talk on the benefits of physical activity for emotional well-being, and 'Seniors on stage', a dance and music show featuring students from the Senior Citizens' Department's workshops.

"We encourage all seniors in our city to participate in the free activities we have lovingly organized for them from the City Council, as this group is very important to us, and this program is designed for them."
