Torrejón de Ardoz Celebrates Olympic Day with 30 Sports and Medalists

The Joaquín Blume Sports City will host a free event on June 6th organized by the COE, featuring activities for all ages.

Torrejón de Ardoz will become the epicenter of Spanish sports on June 6th, hosting for the second consecutive year Olympic Day, a free event that will offer nearly 30 sports disciplines and feature the participation of Olympic medalists.

The Joaquín Blume Sports City will be the venue for this event, organized by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), which aims to bring Olympic values closer to the public. The activity, with free and open access, will take place from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM and is designed for participants of all ages.
Attendees will have the opportunity to practice a wide variety of sports, including canoeing, triathlon, rowing, table tennis, paddle tennis, fronton, archery, modern pentathlon, judo, petanque, Olympic wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics, taekwondo, karate, climbing, chess, BMX, hockey, skating, 3x3 basketball, football, futsal, fencing, handball, boxing, tai chi, athletics, softball, badminton, volleyball, and kung fu, in addition to lifesaving and rescue, and recreational games.
The event's presentation was attended by the mayor, Alejandro Navarro; the Councilor for Sports and Tourism, Miriam Gutiérrez; and Ricardo Leiva, director of the Sports Department of the COE. The opening ceremony will commence at 10:30 AM with a parade of clubs and athletes, flag raising, and the lighting of the Olympic torch.

"I thank the Spanish Olympic Committee for returning to Torrejón de Ardoz to celebrate Olympic Day in a year when we are European City of Sport and are hosting a large number of competitions and events, from grassroots to top-level popular sports, in addition to making a significant investment in creating new sports facilities and improving existing ones."

From 12:00 PM onwards, attendees can get autographs from prominent Olympic athletes and medalists such as Saúl Craviotto, David Cal, María Pérez, Ayoub Ghadfa, Artemi Gavezou, Carolina Pascual, Ana Alonso, Lola Riera, Jenifer Pareja, Rocío Delgado, and David Alarza. T-shirts will be distributed while supplies last, and all participants will receive a commemorative diploma.
