The awards cover categories such as architecture, visual arts, photography, historical research, arts and letters, narrative, world heritage, journalism, poetry, and civic values. Those interested in the Architecture, Visual Arts, Photography, Research, Narrative, Journalism, and Poetry categories have until May 31 to submit their proposals.
For the Civic Values and Alcalá City Arts Award categories, the deadline is extended to July 17. Finally, the World Heritage category will close its call for entries on September 4.
One of the most prestigious awards of the call, the Alcalá City Award for Arts and Letters, traditionally presented on October 9, coinciding with the commemoration of Miguel de Cervantes' baptism in the city, has included among its laureates such illustrious names as Fernando Fernán Gómez, Isabel Allende, Adolfo Marsillach, Ainhoa Arteta, Joaquín Sabina, Ana Rosa Quintana or Carlos Herrera in the last edition.
Additionally, three of the awards pay tribute to prominent figures in Spanish culture and politics. These include the “Francisco Javier García Gutiérrez” historical research award, the “Manuel Azaña” journalism award, and the “Arsenio E. Lope Huerta” civic values award, dedicated to the city's former mayor.
