The San Fernando de Henares City Council has categorically denied reports of alleged loss or mixing of bone remains at the municipal crematorium, assuring that the incident was a specific, repaired malfunction.

The municipal corporation of San Fernando de Henares has addressed publications suggesting irregularities at the local cemetery-crematorium. According to the council, the situation was due to a specific malfunction in the crematorium oven, which has already been rectified and did not compromise the area where bodies are placed.

"It is regrettable that some media outlets have published information with false and unverified data on a particularly sensitive matter, which hurts the feelings of families who have lost loved ones."

The incident, detected after an anonymous complaint and an inspection by the Community of Madrid, involved the detachment of two refractory bricks in the access area of the crematorium oven. The City Council emphasizes that this malfunction did not affect the combustion area. The concessionaire company acted swiftly, requesting repairs and temporarily suspending the service for less than 48 hours, from Monday, April 20, until Wednesday morning.
Following the repair, the Community of Madrid lifted the temporary cessation of activity, and the service has been restored to normal. The City Council reiterates that there was no loss or mixing of bone remains, but rather a specific failure in the oven's structure. The General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health has acknowledged the diligence and speed of the concessionaire company, although the regional administration maintains an open file to assess a possible sanction for the broken bricks.
The municipal government has labeled the publications as “hoaxes and lies,” stating that they are “totally false” and lack any evidence to prove otherwise. The local executive has defended its swift and transparent actions, providing a complete informational file with the chronology of events and collected documentation. The case remains pending the resolution of the regional file.
