The Rivas-Vaciamadrid City Council has announced the opening of the registration period for its school bus program, 'En bus al cole', for the 2026-2027 academic year, aiming to facilitate student transportation and reduce traffic congestion around educational centers.

Starting next Monday, May 20, families in Rivas-Vaciamadrid can apply for a spot in the 'En bus al cole' program, a municipal initiative designed to optimize school mobility. This service, which has already proven its effectiveness, will once again operate with 11 routes covering all public Early Childhood and Primary Education centers in the municipality.
During the current academic year, over 700 students have used this system daily, significantly contributing to the reduction of approximately 400 vehicles around schools each day. Registration will be done through the City Council's website, and the deadline for applications is May 11.

The Mobility Department will be responsible for selecting participating families based on route design, prioritizing mobility criteria.

The selection of participants will be handled by the Mobility Department, which will prioritize mobility criteria in route design. The program aims to optimize bus capacity through user rotation and strategically located stops within a few minutes' walk from students' homes, thus ensuring service efficiency.
The 'En bus al cole' program is distinguished by its inclusive nature, offering adapted vehicles and accompanying staff to assist students with special needs. Additionally, it includes a mobile application that allows families to check the real-time status of routes, providing peace of mind and security.
This service, fully funded by the Rivas-Vaciamadrid City Council with an investment exceeding 1.2 million euros, began as a pilot project in the 2023/2024 academic year in three educational centers, where it received an "excellent reception" from the community.
