For three days, Urano Street in Paracuellos de Jarama will host 14 wooden stalls with booksellers, publishers, illustrators, and writers from various parts of Spain. The literary offering is broad, covering everything from children's and young adult literature to novels, poetry, and essays, ensuring options for readers of all ages. This year's poster was designed by José Fragoso, inspired by classic characters from children's literature.
The opening on Friday, May 8, will feature a storytelling session by Fran Pintadera, National Culture Award winner. Other storytellers such as José Carlos Román, Gracia Iglesias, Inma Muñoz, Emma Varela, and Margarita del Mazo will also participate. A prominent name that day will be David Lozano, recent winner of the Cervantes Chico Award, who will fill the afternoon with suspense and mystery. Additionally, Lozano will visit two local high schools in the days leading up to the fair as part of the school outreach program.
Saturday will offer a varied program including the musical show Titirisolfa in the morning. In the afternoon, a comic created by students from the Culture Subcommittee of CEIPSO Andrea Casamayor will be presented, a local work that will have its place on stage. This edition strengthens its support for authors from Paracuellos, with the participation of Ana Urtiaga, Julio Salvatierra, Susana Gómez, Ricardo Herranz, and Felden Vareth. Myriam Lejardi, a popular author among teenage readers, will also be present, along with illustrators Esther Gili and Ayesha.
On Sunday, May 10, the last day of the fair, will begin with a concert by the group Mundo Caracolino. Afterward, authors will be distributed among the stalls to sign books, a moment that fosters direct interaction between readers and writers. Confirmed authors for signings include Begoña Oro, Santiago Díaz, and Pedro Simón, significant figures in contemporary Spanish literature.
As a prelude to the fair, several authors, including David Lozano, David Fernández Sifres, Fran Pintadera, and Margarita del Mazo, will visit Paracuellos schools weeks before the event. These visits allow students to interact with the writers, who they can then meet again at the fair's stalls for book signings.
