The events unfolded when agents from the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of Rivas-Vaciamadrid responded to a citizen's alert. The individual had reported the presence of an immobile horse, surrounded by trash, in a rural area of Valdemingómez.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed the animal's critical condition. Faced with this situation, the veterinary team from the Madrid City Council, known as Sevemur, was immediately activated to assess the equine's health.
After a thorough examination, the veterinary specialists determined that the horse's condition was irreversible. To prevent prolonged suffering, euthanasia was performed. Subsequently, a necropsy was conducted to clarify the exact causes of its critical state.
The horse was equipped with an identification microchip, which proved crucial for investigators to locate its owner. As a result of the inquiries, the Civil Guard has initiated proceedings against this person, considering them the alleged perpetrator of an animal cruelty offense.
