The city of Alcalá de Henares is preparing for its sixth edition of Complutum Renacida, an event that will revive ancient Rome with historical reenactments, a themed market, and various cultural activities from April 30 to May 3, 2026.

For four days, Alcalá de Henares will delve into its archaeological past, offering visitors an immersive experience in the Roman world. The program includes shows, workshops, conferences, and activities designed for all audiences, emphasizing the value of local heritage.

"Complutum Renacida is much more than a cultural event; it is a determined commitment to highlight our archaeological heritage and turn it into a living, accessible, and exciting experience for all audiences."

Activities will take place in emblematic locations such as the Roman city of Complutum, the Antiquarium, the Casa de Hippolytus, and the Archaeological and Paleontological Museum of the Community of Madrid. Among the main attractions are the Roman Market, which will open its doors on April 30 next to the walled enclosure, and the Gran Circus Maximus, featuring chariot races.
The event will also include a historical reenactment Roman camp, where visitors can learn about the military and daily life of ancient Rome. Conferences, guided tours, artistic workshops, and thematic reenactments, from rituals like the Lemuria to daily life scenes, will be offered. A highlight will be the Roman military parade, concluding at the Complutum camp, concentrating all reenactment activities on Saturday, May 2.
The program is complemented by proposals such as the Complutum Challenge, technical visits to the Casa de los Grifos, Roman construction and decoration workshops, a concert, and informative gatherings. Starting in 2027, the event will reduce its presence in the Historic Center to focus on the Complutum archaeological park, aiming to lessen neighborhood pressure and enhance this space with over 100 reenactors.
