The Alcalá de Henares City Council, through its Department of Environment, has announced a new edition of its Environmental Routes, which will take place during May and June 2026 to bring nature closer to the public.

This initiative, already well-established in the municipal agenda, offers an active and educational opportunity for residents to discover the municipality's natural environment free of charge. The itineraries, guided by environmental educators, are designed to showcase some of the city's most emblematic areas, such as the Henares River surroundings, the hills, ecological corridors, and urban green spaces.

"With this new program, the Alcalá de Henares City Council reinforces its commitment to environmental education and the promotion of sustainable habits, bringing the value of its natural heritage closer to citizens and promoting its conservation."

The program will kick off on Saturday, May 9, with a medium-level route to the Arab Castle. Throughout the rest of May, accessible options such as the Parks Route on Sunday, May 17, and other medium-difficulty choices like the Green Gate on Saturday, May 23, will be offered. The month will conclude on Saturday, May 30, with the Henares Ecofluvial Corridor, a gentler route.
In June, the program will again combine family routes with highly demanded proposals. The Stork Route will be offered on several dates (June 6, 14, and 20) with double morning shifts to facilitate greater participation. Additionally, on Sunday, June 7, the Parks Route will resume, established as an ideal option for all audiences.
The routes are designed to suit different audiences, combining accessible options for families with medium-level proposals for those seeking a more active experience. Activities such as the Stork Route and the Henares Ecofluvial Corridor return due to their popularity. All activities are free and will take place on weekend mornings, with limited spots requiring prior registration through the municipal portal.
